THANK YOU AND MERRY CHRISTMAS
Thank you to everyone who attended the Awards Ceremony last night. I think you’ll agree it was a wonderful way to wrap up the year. The Choir performances were superb as usual and really created a Christmas vibe. As I looked out across our school community, it re-affirmed how lucky we are.
Congratulations to all the award winners from both Year 6 Graduation and last night’s ceremony. Well done to the newly elected Faction Captains and Councillors and I look forward to working with our new Head Boy and Head Girl.
The student Leadership Team for 2021 is:
As I mentioned last night, 2020 has challenged us in so many ways yet we continued to flourish as a school community, coming together in a difficult and uncertain time to support one another. As a school we have been overwhelmed by the generosity and outpouring of support. We were humbled with the well wishes and gratitude that has been forthcoming as we have navigated the year.
Again I wish to acknowledge the amazing staff at GHPS. Every single one of them play a significant part in ensuring GHPS continues to be such an amazing school. The Cleaners, who this year have done an incredible job in keeping us all safe. Mr John, for maintaining the grounds among other things, Mrs Nardone in the library, our amazing office staff, where nothing is ever too much trouble, Education Assistants – what an amazing group of people. Specialist Staff – this is the point of difference. The quality of the programs is a direct reflection of the quality of the people. Teaching staff – I’ve never worked with a more dedicated group of staff. Your commitment to the students and constant ability to go above and beyond is not lost on me, or the parent community. And of course the admin team – the engine room. I liken this to the coaches’ box. The place where the big calls are made that can make or break a team. I thank you for trusting me to lead.
Thank you to the school community. The School Board, with Brook Durling as the Chair, it’s an exciting time as we review the 2018 -2020 Business Plan Cycle and look toward the new 2021 – 23 plan. Your counsel on this is going to be crucial to the ongoing success of GHPS. The P&C, under new leadership. Thank you Rachael Bolton and your team for continuing the strong tradition of community engagement and support. I also wish to acknowledge Kylie Eaton and Emma-Jo Broadley who stepped down as President and Secretary at the AGM this year. Your contribution has been greatly appreciated. I thought that both Rachael and Brook did a fantastic job with their speeches last night summing up the year beautifully.
To the general parent community, I once again thank you for your ongoing support of our school. I’ve said on so many occasions how lucky we are to have such a wonderfully supportive community. It has been no more apparent than this year where we have really come together and shown support for one another in so many ways. For everything you do we are extremely grateful.
As we look toward 2021, we do so with some excitement. As you have no doubt noticed, there is a lot going on around the school. Over the next 6 weeks there will be plenty happening around here. We hope to return to a new roof on B Block and the old UCA, a new kiss and drive, stage 1 of the Year 1 /2 adventure playground and the veranda extension of the Kindy class. Not to mention some remediation works on the oval and the grassed area in front of the Keene Under Cover Area a bit of TLC.
But perhaps more significantly, with the rolling out of the new Business Plan we are able to continue succeeding through excellence and experience. We will build upon our foundations of Respect, Responsibility and Rigour to ultimately Seek Wisdom as our school motto says. We will continue to look for ways to always be better.
I sincerely wish, for all of you, to have a safe and relaxing break with family and friends and that Santa brings you what you asked for.
