PARENT INTERVIEWS

A reminder that the school will close tomorrow at 11:30am (Thursday 4 March) to allow for all parents to meet individually with staff and discuss their child/ren’s progress. Hopefully all parents have made a time through their classroom teacher. As we are on a strict time schedule, teachers will use timers to remind them to wind up as the end of the interview approaches. This will ensure we remain on time as some parents will be meeting with multiple teachers and cannot afford for us to be running late.

As always, staff are readily available to meet with parents at any time to discuss student progress or concerns. If you need to meet to further discuss anything, please organise a time on another day and staff will be more than accommodating.

KISS AND DRIVE

We are starting to get used to the traffic flow for the new kiss and drive. It is great to see more people using this and assisting in the safe transition of students from school to home.

As I mentioned in the last newsletter, it is really pretty simple:

  1. DO NOT TURN YOUR CAR OFF
  2. DO NOT GET OUT OF YOUR CAR
  3. MOVE UP TO THE NEXT SPACE WHEN IT BECOMES AVAILABLE

The biggest issue still would seem to be other traffic movement in the area. Please do not stop or park in the driveway adjacent to the Kiss and Drive exit. Also, please do not use the intersection of Waljerin and Ledger to do a U-turn. This is a major safety hazard as it creates blind spots where students cannot be seen as they try to use the crosswalk. We all have a responsibility to keep our kids safe and I would hate for an accident to occur due to someone being careless or impatient.

I am hoping to meet with the City of Kalamunda in the coming weeks to discuss signage and the reallocation of parking spaces at the old kiss and drive and the modifications needed for the Crossing Guard that we are hoping to have by the beginning of next term.

CANTEEN AND LUNCH SERVICE

There have been a couple of teething problems with the new lunch schedule and the canteen service, particularly with 2nd lunch. To overcome these, we have a few systems designed to streamline the process and make it easier for everyone.

  1. Students purchasing food in 2nd lunch can do so immediately at 1:30pm.
  2. Students who have an online order for 2nd lunch can collect immediately at 1:30pm.
  3. Students need to sit to eat and place rubbish in the bins provided.

We have also noticed that some students are unaware that parents have ordered them a snack for 2nd lunch. Please ensure your child/ren know if you have done this. There is clear information on the QuickCliq website outlining the Canteen service and when certain foods and snacks are available.

Thank you to Christine and the parent volunteers for being so accommodating as we iron out these issues.
