WELCOME BACK TO TERM 2
Welcome back to the start of an eleven-week Term 2! It has been great to walk around and chat with everyone and find out all of the exciting things that staff and families got up to during their holidays.
As we start this term, a reminder to all parents that we remain operating under Phase 4 COVID Guidelines, which still limit our capacity to 75%. We welcome parents and families at our assemblies and events, but ask that social distancing is observed and where possible we will use outdoor venues to enable us to spread out. We look forward to seeing many of you at the ANZAC Service this Friday at 9:30am.
As discussed previously, we ask that parents continue to drop off at the classroom door in the mornings before school. Whilst there are no restrictions on this, we have noticed that the students settle more quickly and are ready to start the day. Parents are welcome to chat with staff after school, or arrange for an appointment via email should they wish to discuss their child’s progress.
As WA remains a low risk environment with no community spread, we welcome parents back in the afternoons to chat whilst children play on playgrounds. As always, we remind parents that there are no staff on duty, so children playing on equipment are their responsibility and they need to supervise them accordingly.
LUNCH TIME & CANTEEN SERVICE
After trialling a different approach to lunch and canteen services, we have discovered that there have been some issues that need to be addressed to allow for greater access to the canteen. Following feedback from staff, students and parents, starting from next week, the following recess and lunch system will be implemented for Years 1–6:
Recess 11:00 – 11:30am
Play first – Eating Siren at 11:20am – Canteen Recess sales from 11:00am – Students must sit down if eating in the top Under Cover Area.
Lunch 1:30 – 2:00pm
Eat first – Lunch Orders collected from canteen and brought to class at 1:30pm. Siren sounds at 1:40pm to release students to go and play.
Students can choose to eat more at the recess break if they are finding that they are getting hungry waiting for lunch time as well as Crunch & Sip that remains available for all classes.
Kindy and Pre-Primary will have shared fruit at recess time and have arranged with the Canteen to provide lunch orders at a specific time.
It is a school requirement to conduct a parent survey every two years to determine satisfaction with regard to programs and activities as well as school processes and governance. The parent survey will be available from 9:00am tomorrow, Thursday 22 April until Friday 7 May. The link to the survey will be made available on Connect. We have also included an extra section on activities and events within the school calendar. There has been some discussion regarding the amount of events at particular times of the year and the pressure this puts on families. Please take the time to complete this extra section.
Staff have recently undergone an audit and have made some recommendations with regard to some changes to the school calendar that will be considered alongside the parent and student feedback. If you have any questions regarding the survey, or are having trouble accessing it, please do not hesitate to contact me at school.
