Environmental Day is Friday 5 July. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities from 10:00am-1:00pm. Parents too will have the opportunity to participate in the afternoon from 1:30pm-3:00pm.
Parents will have the opportunity to hear from Kerry Wilson from EMRC, Belinda Hamilton from Replenish, Mikala Atkinson from the Cancer Council. There will be the opportunity to make wax wraps as well. Please bring in small pieces of cotton material-no more than 30 x30 cm or smaller and a gold coin for the cost of the wax. This will be in the Keene UCA .
The Danceathon will be from 9am and students can come dressed in their best recycled outfits made from recycled products for the “Trashion Show”
Examples: Use of reusable shopping bags cut into “clothing items”, use of envelopes or newspaper, cardboard robots/shapes. Bracelets or necklaces made from bottles tops etc
Note: It is not a ‘free dress’ day, uniforms are to be worn as normal.
Please bring a gold coin donation which will go towards helping the wildlife at Kanyana.
Re-usable GHPS coloured cups will be available for purchase during our Environmental Day – 1 Cup $10, 2 Cups $15 and 3 Cups $2
We would also like to thank Jarrahdale Heating and Cooling for their kind donation which has enabled us to purchase a briquette maker to be used by the school throughout the year. Thank you!

Tip: Connect with Nature
Connecting with nature helps us to recover from stress and mental fatigue, helps us relax and puts us in a good frame of mind. So next time you feel like you need a lift; tend to your garden or explore your local park; you might even like to go for a walk along the beach or take a moment to enjoy watching the waves.
WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING IN OUR CLASSROOM’S?
Room 8 and 9 have been busy researching frog species found in our local area in preparation for building our very own frog pond. On Tuesday, Jessy from Bunnings worked with small groups from the two classes to build it. We will be using the Frog ID app to record frog calls to identify frogs attracted to our new pond. If you hear any frogs calling, please let us know!
Room 4 have been working with Chatter Pix, check out the video!
