AUSSIE OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to Taj of Year 6 for being the February Aussie of the Month.
KANYANA WILDLIFE REHABILIATION CENTRE
Our fantastic Year 5 and 6 students have started their weekly roster to visit and assist Kanyana with the wildlife feeding program. Four students travel to Kanyana every Tuesday afternoon where they make up all the food trays for the bilbies. The students then get a chance to interact with the different native animals that have been brought into the sanctuary by community members. Gooseberry Hill Primary School would like to thank Kanyana for this fantastic opportunity that our students are a part of and in particular, Mrs Jane Forrest, who meets each group of students and escorts them for the afternoon.
KALAMUNDA SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL ACADEMIC EXTENSION
Congratulations to our awesome students who have been selected to participate in the Kalamunda Senior High School Academic Extension Program for 2020. Chet, Riley, Ava, Isaac, James and Harper began the program with their first class and a welcome afternoon tea with parents and Principals. They were presented with their certificates by Principal Mrs Helen Deacon. The students look forward to a year of challenging extension work across English, Mathematics, Humanities and Science.
WHOLE SCHOOL POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR PROGRAM
The Week 4 assembly was very exciting with the awarding of the first Whole School Positive Behaviour rewards.
The winning faction this fortnight was STIRK. With 308 Virtues Tokens banked for their faction, they are in a good position half way through the term for the end of term SAUSAGE SIZZLE.
The winning class with the most tokens was ROOM 9, they have a 30 minute fun period coming up with Mr Snell, Mrs Elsegood or Ms Archdall.
The individual winners, who have won THE VERY SPECIAL BOX for their class for two weeks, were:
YEARS 1/2: Kavi for Excellence
YEARS 3/4: Iain for Resilience
Years 5/6: Liam for Excellence
Keep up the fantastic work and you could make all the difference for your class and faction.
Mr Caddy has organised after school swim training sessions in preparation for the GHPS Faction Carnival and Stirk Swimming Carnival. Training sessions commenced this week and will run every Tuesday until the Faction Carnival (Monday 6 April). Training starts at 3:30pm sharp and run until 4pm at Kalamunda Water Park. Swimmers will need to pay a $3.00 entry fee, along with a $3.00 fee for any spectators.
Training sessions are encouraged for any students in Year 4-6 who made the interschool team last year, anyone who thinks they will be pushing for interschool selection this year, or any competent swimmer who wants to come and get some exercise and practice in before the Faction Carnival.
