We will be holding our special ANZAC Day Service in Week 1 of Term 2, Friday 23 April at 9:30am. All are welcome to attend. We ask Year 6 students to please bring a plate for morning tea on the day, these can be delivered to the Library. Donations of greenery for wreaths and any parents available to help with wreaths on Thursday 22 April from 1:30pm would be greatly appreciated. All students are asked to bring a flower on Friday 23 April for their class wreath.
Students involved with Scouts, Cubs, Girl Guides, Brownies or similar service organisations are asked to wear their uniforms for the ANZAC service.
SENOIR CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA
Mrs O’Reilly is still missing a large number of Senior Choir and Orchestra shirts and vests. We kindly ask families to double check their homes in case they have been forgotten – we will need all of them for our ANZAC Day Service in Week 1 of next term.
Math Club with Mr McNeil will commence in Week 2 of Term 2.
YEAR 5&6 KANYANA VISITS
We are missing quite a few student permission forms for the Yr 5&6 Kanyana weekly visits, please complete this online form so we can start our Term 2 schedule.
NEXT SCHOOL ASSEMBLY
The next school assembly will take place on Friday 30 April at 8:50am, our hosts will be Room 9. Parents of Room 9 and honour certificate recipients are invited to join us in the Keene Undercover Area.
MOTHER’S DAY STALL
Please note that the Mother’s Day Stall will take place in Week 3 of Term 2 (not Week 2 as advertised in school diary). The stalls will be available on Thursday 6 and Friday 7 May.
SPREAD THE WARMTH
The cooler weather is just around the corner. Families who wish to donate warm items including blankets, jumpers, gloves, pants, socks and beanies can do so by placing them in the box in the front office.
Thank you to all the Early Childhood families who generously made donations for our recent Bike-a-thon. Our total raised was over $2600. These funds will be utilised to make improvements in the Early Childhood playground. Thank you also to the lovely Parents who helped collate the Bike-a-thon donations.
WELL DONE ALYSSA AND SIENNA!
Alyssa in Year 5 achieved 7th place in the 1100m Walk and a 6th place in the 1500m run events at the WA State Champs last weekend. Alyssa achieved PB times in both races, she was racing against the fastest 16 girls in the state within her age group in both events. Alyssa’s older sister Sienna (ex student at Gooseberry Hill) also raced the same events in her age category and managed to finish on the podium, with 3rd place in the 1500m Walk event.
We love hearing of our student achievements, both current and old!
WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING IN OUR CLASSROOMS?
Yr4-6 Swimming Carnival
We had an awesome day at our faction swimming carnival last Tuesday. Congratulations to Champion and Runner-Up Boys and Girls and well done to our shared faction winners – Mason and O’Connor!
GHPS Interschool Swimming Squad
Coach Caddy has been busy preparing our Interschool Swim Squad for today’s carnival. In the lead up to today’s events Coach held some training sessions and Kalamunda Pool, which ended with an awesome breakfast of champions – bacon and egg rolls!
GHPS came first overall with Emily (Yr4) coming in Runner-Up Champion Girl, Maddison (Yr5) Runner-Up Champion Girl and Jack (Yr6) winning Champion Boy.
Congratulations to all the students who represented our school, we are very proud of you!
Yr4 Blue Goose Excursion
Students walked to the ‘Blue Goose’ crash site on the side of Gooseberry Hill Road.
Sports Dress Up Day
Last Friday we had our Sports Dress-Up Day, all donations collected went to our sponsor child. Our Year 6s also sold Silly Socks, raising money for their Year 6 Graduation Gift, it was a raging success and we can’t wait to wear them!
The Yr 3 students had a sleepover last Friday at the school, looks like that had fun!
