WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?
Room 9
The Year 4s were very fortunate to have Mr Brian Gould come along and work with us doing a “Plant Inventory” of the nearby bushland. Mr Gould put together a catalogue of plant pictures, with the scientific as well as common names we were likely to come across. As groups we worked in 3 x 3 metre grids and mapped, counted, and identified all the plants in the grid. It was challenging as there is such a rich diversity and variety of plants in our area. We also learned about plant adaptations and how our specific conditions in WA have strongly influenced the structure, size, and ability of plants to reproduce in dry hot conditions. We would like to thank Mr Gould as it was a great session for all our budding botanists in Year 4.
