2022 GHPS BOOKLISTS

The list of student requirements has been approved by the School Board. Staff have carefully selected items which they know to be of benefit to your children’s education and as such it would be appreciated if you could purchase the specific items and not alternative substitutes. For example, exercise books with dotted thirds assist children with their printing as opposed to books with just lines, or pencils for junior years should be formative to assist with the development of their printing and not thin pencils which suit older children.

The school has negotiated competitive prices for materials on the list but you are not obliged to use this supplier. However, if parents want to order through the school’s provider please follow the directions on the Student Requirements List which can be found on the school website here.

UNIFORMS:

We have had a lot of enquiries regarding the phasing out of the ‘old’ polo tops. The new style polo top was introduced at the beginning of 2021. The old style is no longer for sale at Lowes (uniform supplier). The phase out period is 2-3 years, we will advise of a set date closer to the time.

WOOLWORTHS JUNIOR GRANT ACCEPTANCE RECEIVED!

Earlier in the year, Mrs Newman was successful in applying for a Woolworths Landcare Grant for $940.61. This money was for our children to create and maintain a vegetable garden, as well as reducing food waste entering general waste, by using a composter. This grant allowed us to purchase a 2-section composter, 10 portable garden beds, potting mix, gloves and seeds. This project has seen us plant, water and maintain the vegetable gardens. Students have also been collecting food scraps for composting. We are looking forward to harvesting and enjoying our produce.

WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING?

Handball Tournament

We had our first GHPS handball tournament against Darlington Primary and the occasion was a resounding success. It was super competitive in both the boys’ and girls’ division, but through hard work, practice and great focus we edged Darlington in the finals for the overall win. We had outstanding efforts from our students, and they are to be congratulated on the results. As importantly, they made us proud as a school with the great sportsmanship they displayed throughout the event. A special congratulations to Skye and Owen who were the overall girls’ and boys’ champions, great effort guys. Mr McNeil
